This assessment has the student look at the picture and mark the vowel sounds they hear. For example there is a picture of a snake, so the child would pick the long vowel "a" for the sound they heard.

This will help me see if the student knows the first vowel controls the second vowel in a word and also that the silent "e" makes the vowel in the sentence say it's name.
